Home - We are selling our home that we have owned for 18 years to move closer to the kids. When we moved here from England we needed a deepwater sailboat home for two people - it was a pain finding it. If you want something similar, please come take a look. We love the feeling of privacy that the extra lot size gives - sitting on your lanai or floating in the pool, you are not overlooked at all. The workshop is air conditioned with a door at both ends - on cooler days you get a lovely breeze through.
Waterway - We've been very happy here - when we first arrived, the canal was advertised as 5ft at MLW... Ha! It was shoaled all over the place. I had to get elected as President of the Manchester Waterway Civic Association and to get on the MSBU board to push for removal of a lock and to maintain the canal at 5ft. It is there now and is one of the best maintained systems in Charlotte Harbour (last dredged fall 2020) and with a decent budget to keep it that way. If you are looking for deepwater sailboat, this one is about 25 mins from the Harbour at idle being fairly close to Lewis Creek. In addition, one day, with various Federal and Local approvals, the other end of the system might also be opened up to give access to the Myakka River. Don't hold your breath! DEP and FWC have to sign off on disruption of sensitive lands. I have just had the dock dredged to 7ft so your boat won't sit on the bottom, even at low spring tides. There is also a floating dock we use for getting into a scull and kayaks without getting your feet wet - there are 30 miles of canals and lakes with islands to explore.
Even if you don't buy our house, we wish you well in your search - it is a lovely area to live in.
